DB2 z/OS Database Administrator – Job Description

 

Position Description

The Database Administrator will be responsible for all database-engineering efforts in the data transfer and loading of the client’s database from DB2 AIX platform onto DB2 z/OS environment with minimal application changes. He/she will also support the day-to-day operational issues associated with generation of database objects, database security, and problem determination and resolution. 

 

Required Qualifications

·         At least 10 years database experience administrating DB2 z/OS DBA in a mainframe environment.

·         Expert knowledge of DB2 on the mainframe, z/OS version 9.

·         Experienced working knowledge of DB2 partitioning design.

·         Knowledge of IBM DB2 utilities suite of products (Load/Reorg/Recovery).

·         Experience in a high transaction volume DB2 environment.

·         Experienced in SQL performance tuning and DB2 plan evaluation.

·         Experience with DB2 system monitoring and tuning.

·         Experience with Platinum database tools suite.

·         Experience supporting systems that have implemented partitioning to support high transaction rates and large volumes of data.

·         Experience with disaster recovery, database maintenance, database optimization, and database design.

·         Must also be able to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally.

·         Must be able to provide physical database design as well as participate in application and system architecture design.
