Hello,

It has been some time since we've discussed matters here.  Now we find ourselves getting ready to travel to Apache and LDAP cons where the opportunity exists to promote our ideas.

My first question is there any interest in a meetup at apachecon?  I think there are a couple of areas to focus on.  One is a planning session to discuss ideas for promotion and furtherance of our goals - both technically and organizationally.  Two is a hack-a-thon to actually start working (hands on) on a combined stack.  There should be ample space at the conference to sit down and push this idea further along.

My second question is does anyone want to join me on stage at ldapcon for my lightning talk on our ecosystem?  Radovan you have already supplied a verbal yes.  Any other takers?  I'd also like to publish the talk here first to gain a consensus on the talking points.

Cheers,

Shawn

Here is the abstract for the talk at ldapcon.  I believe we should publish a charter that covers the items below and sets the tone for future work and cooperation.

Abstract

The Open Source Identity Ecosystem is a marketplace where solution providers, integrators and customers align to build Identity and Access Management solutions. This talk will have a look at the charter and mission of the group. We’ll also talk about what comes next and how to join.

Outline

  1. Open Source Identity Ecosystem Defined
  2. Group Charter
  3. Mission Statement
  4. Next Steps
  5. How to join

Hi Shawn,
I am definitely interested in joining meetup and hack-a-ton at
ApacheCon: I'll be there for both days (Oct 1st, 2nd).

I will also provide some info about our ecosystem during my own talk at
ApacheCon [1]: since we are going to discuss your lighting talk at
ldapcon here, I'd say I will happily grab something (with proper
attribution, naturally), if you don't mind :-)

Regards.

Yes, definitively.

I would suggest to organize a BOF (Band of a Feather) at ApacheCon, so
that we gather more than a couple of us in a small room. That will be
easy to find other people interested in teh matter, and have other
inputs thoan just ours. plus it will put some light on what we are
working on, which is always a good idea.

+1 too, as we will be there for more than a few hours, and this will be
a unique occasion to focus on something common.

A big YES from me. You are right, there was kind of a radio silence
during the summer. It looks like discussing the things face to face can
help.

Yes to that as well ... I'm not sure that I can find much time
personally. But Katka is also going to ApacheCon and I'm sure she will
be very keen to join the hackathon.

And my "yes" still holds also for this one. :-)

Sounds like there is agreement on the following points:

1. Schedule a meetup at ApacheCon.  Actually there will be two, one that focuses on the charter, the other on the technology.  Emmanuel I like your idea for a Band-of-Feather (is that birds?).  How do we do this - just set the date and time or do we need to run it by the conference organizers?

2. Collaborate on the lightning talk at LDAPCon.  I believe this collaboration will be realized through our meetup at ApacheCon.  In other words the product of our discussion on Charter will be a paper that then gets presented at LDAPCon.

Thanks,

Shawn

Francesco, yes I am subscribed but that convo slipped under my radar.  Thanks for pointing it out.  I can chase down how to get it added to schedule if we can agree to when.  Looks like our choices are Wednesday, Sep 30 - Fri, Oct 2.  I don't know everybody's travel schedule... Wed or Thur evening might be good choices.

I will arrive on late evening on 30th and need to leave at about 16 on Friday, so Thursday or Friday are fine to me.

Hi,

Any time will work for me. But thursday evening after your talk seems to be the best time.
