Hello,

It’s been quite some time since we’ve had a chance to talk about our ecosystem idea. I know there will be a few of us in Seville next month. Shall we meet there and see if we still have things to talk about?

I will not be there but I hope some of you can meet to discuss about our group.

If some of you plan to be at Paris Open Source Summit
(http://www.opensourcesummit.paris/) I would be happy to see you.

Clément.

Hello Clément, nice to see of that open source gathering in Paris. Pity it’s the same week as ACEU. Other than these two places, we’ve got fosdem coming up in Feb. Perhaps we can pick things back up again there. Next year is 2017, w/ another ldapcon (hopefully), but that’s not until the fall, which seems like a long time away.

Unfortunately I won't be able to join ApacheCon EU this year (my colleague Andrea Paticelli will hold a talk [1] there, anyway).
Since I'll be in Paris anyway on the same days, I will also probably enjoy the POSS for the first time, at least on 16th.

Clément, hope to meet you there.
Regards.

Hi,

I'm sorry, but I can't make it this year. Too much work to be done until
end of the year. But I'm sure Katka can take my place there.

Hey Francesco, yes I plan on attending Andrea’s talk as it looks very interesting. In the meantime, count me in on idea of starting our discussions again on ecosystem. Last I recall, we were still in the charter drafting stage. Perhaps we should finish that and get it published.

Best,
Shawn

Sadly, I won't be at any of these conferences, but remain acutely interested in the idea.

The higher ed and research community in the US has been slowly but surely moving in a direction related to the ecosystem, but with a specific focus on their particular needs (which of course shares a lot with other markets/industries). The overall initiate is called Trust and Identity in Education and Research (TIER) and is currently composed of open source projects Shibboleth, Grouper, and CoManage. I know there has already been much discussion regarding possibly including midPoint or other "entity registry" products into a reference architecture.

CAS also continues to enjoy wide adoption and project activity under the Apereo umbrella. I bring these two up as I think there are natural touch points in terms of overall vision and real potential for collaboration across initiatives/projects, but also to point out that if anyone has travel budget or looking to join these conversations there are two opportunities coming up next spring:
* Internet2 Global Summit: http://meetings.internet2.edu/2017-global-summit/
* Open Apereo 2017: https://www.apereo.org/content/2017-open-apereo-save-date

I still think there's an opportunity for an Identity Ecosystem conference that would pull in various open source IAM projects/initiatives along with partner commercial firms and focus on the IAM practitioner.

Anybody know where/when the next ldapcon 2017 will be?  Perhaps we could put together an Identity Ecosystem track there?

Best,
Bill

Bill,

We discussed at one point of having ‘premixed’ solutions, with documented setups, and ready for the integrators, for example

1. shib, midpoint, openldap
2. cas, syncope, apache dir
3. ox, openidm, opendj

Each solution mix would be comprised of (at a minimum) a directory, provisioning agent, and access management component.

Agreed, it’s a good idea as there’s still a compelling need.

AFIK it’ll be in the Fall of ’17. I’ll ask around and see what can be found out. Agree it would be ideal place to meet (we’re all there anyway) but as I said before, seems a long way off.
