Interesting. Did you have a look at the member list? Seems the only big name not there is Google.

https://www.idecosystem.org/page/membership

There is also a pretty substantial pile of documentation on that website including use cases and other info related to identity focused topics. Doubtful of the applicability to our mission but certainly helps to be aware.

I also think that this is quite different from the thing that we want to
achieve. Anyway, it looks like they are using the name that we have
chosen as a temporary name for our initiative. So, it would be good to
find a final name for us. Anybody any ideas?

Hi. Although I have never been much good at choosing names, this one sort of leapt into mind:

One Source Identity Ecosystem

I noticed that the 1source.org domain is open. If that one is, might be easy to get variations, e.g. 1sourceidentity.org.

Depends if we focus on OSS only, but it seems you dont want to favor
such choice.

This initiative is really an US one, with many of the pig players
(except Google and Apple).

There is a lot of room for something more open.

Let's brainstorm about a new name in the meantime.

I'm still not really sure about this. Currently I would prefer to be
"OSS core": all the core components must be OSS (and I mean proper OSS
with community, governance, etc.). But there may be other non-essential
components as "extras". And these might not be OSS. But I thing this is
something to discuss and we need to decide this as a group.

I wonder whether "pig players" was a typo or you have just created a new
meme? :-)

Yes. More open and something that really works together.

There is something obvious : we will have to live in a mixed world. That
means we *have* to support closed source products, either through
connectors, or directly. Because AD is not going to vanish aytime soon,
for example...

Hmmm. Acually it was a typo, but a good one :-)
