Functional: After the Sale/Shipment is made how to track the location of the Material

Hi all,

This is a functional stuff .. i do not know if there is any separate forum in idempiere to post functionas questions .. like there was in adempiere sourceforge forum


When a company/organization purchase a material from the Vendor the ownership is transfered to the company/organization from the vendor

The on hand quantity gets updated in warehouse/storage where the material was received.

Now the company/organization rent it out to a Customer and so transfers the material to the a customer location and will be used by the Customer

But since the cost of this material is so high.. therefore company/organization lease the material to a leasing finance company and pays the Vendor invoice

Since the equipment is leased out to the leasing finance company, the ownership is transferred to them.

Functional Issues to be resolved:

 a) Material should not show in inventory  i.e. warehouse/storage after it is leased out
 b) Still need to track the location of the Material as it used by the Customer though it no more does not belongs to Company/Organization


In other words after the Sale/Shipment is made how to track the location of the Material

Hi Shiju, from your description it doesn't sound like a sale, is more a
renting service and probably you would want to keep track of the
location of your material with an inventory move to customer location.

Dear Carlos

You pointed me to the right direction

Now i realize, more specifically it is a service offered to Banks and Jewelers to 24 hours of monitor their ATMs, branchs or showrooms
This is done by installing some electronic surveillance equipments and cameras which will relay the visuals/footage to a remote data center
Since these equipments are expensive it is leased out from Financial Institutions. Hence these equipments are not owned by the Client/Legal Organization
My functional problem is if this equipment does not belong to the Client/Organization then  it cannot be stored in the Warehouse/Locator table

Then perhaps is should define a custom table Site Master ?

In other words should idempiere core should have an official table/window to store/track customer assets / sites  which legally does not belong to the client/organization

Is there any/more request for such a feature from  idempiere fans ?
