Hello everyone,

Does anyone have experience implementing iDempiere in the textile or garment manufacturing industry?

I'm trying to understand how you modeled the production process.

A typical scenario is:

  • Fabric is purchased in rolls.

  • The fabric is then cut into many different pieces.

  • Those cut pieces become semi-finished products or are used directly in sewing.

  • Finally, multiple finished garments are produced.

In a traditional manufacturing BOM, a finished product is usually assembled from several raw materials. In garment manufacturing, however, the opposite often happens: one raw material (a fabric roll) is transformed into many different semi-finished or finished products through cutting.

How did you model this in iDempiere?

  • Did you use Production (BOM) as-is?

  • Did you create semi-finished products for each cut piece?

  • How did you handle fabric consumption, cutting losses (scrap/waste), and inventory tracking?

  • Did you use any customization or alternative approach?

Any advice, examples, or implementation experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!
