Hello community,

As promised during the Lyon conference, the Sponsorship Board is publishing a report of the funds received and spent during these years.

Some history about this:
- Chuck Boecking started the initiative 6 years ago in 29-Dec-2013
- There were two "golden" years (2015 and 2016) where we received some good amount of money
- Unfortunately the number of sponsors and the amount of contributions have declined since then

During the conference I presented some macro numbers explaining that our major fault has been not spending the money.

Some of the attendants to the conference manifested that publishing the exact numbers could lead them to sponsor the project.

So, here we are, we created this spreadsheet:

You can find there three sheets:
1 - Paypal Balance -> The paypal balance on every year close
2 - Sponsorship 2019-12 -> this is a yearly and monthly summary of the amounts RECEIVED - no names published, just amounts
3 - Expenses 2019-12 -> this is a detailed explanation of every expense we have had during these years

Idea is to update and report these number at least quarterly from now on.

Now, I have a doubt about publishing detailed names of sponsors, I would think publishing the names and amounts of the sponsors that actively write me requesting to publish their names in the spreadsheet (you know, the GDPR and other recent laws).
So, please just let me know if somebody wants his name on that detailed report.

Last and the most important!   Thanks to the people that have sponsored during these years.

A very special thanks to the 5 active sponsors: Evgeny, Hideaki, Chuck, Fernando and Blindmotion
It's really appreciated.

We have not forgotten the request that we need to spend the money - we're actively looking for interesting challenges that we want to cover with this, but fist we wanted to clarify the "accounting".

Regards,

Carlos Ruiz

HI Carlos,

Thank you for acknowledging the Sponsors. Idempiere is such an important project that provides so much benefit and value that it deserves to attract sponsorship.
I think your initiative to 'spend the money' and the transparency that goes with it is good and looking at the spreadsheet, you do a fantastic job with being frugal.

My business runs on Idempiere and I am so glad I took it on - the learning curve and implementation cost has repaid itself a hundred fold. Having the ability to write plugins and use the plugins provided by the generous and skilled community gives an almost omnipotent feel to what you can achieve with Idempiere and I'd encourage anyone reading this that hasn't yet 'gone live' to do so as soon as possible, but in a calm and measure way of course.

To those considering sponsoring - please do! As can bee seen by the spreadsheet Carlos has provided, these guys are good with money and I'm sure will find responsible ways to benefit the community with the funds available. This is a mature project with an incredibly solid and cleverly written code base that improves year on year.

To provide some clarity, I own Blindmotion, based in Sydney Australia which is (at the moment) a small Idempiere sponsor. Supporting an open source project to me makes so much business sense and I plan to continue contributing.

Regards,

Phil Barnett.
