Hi,

For the last several days, we are facing the following issue related to PDF reports.

Open any report in PDF view, move to another tab, return to the report (pdf report) tab again. Data will disappear and you find a black page. Anyone facing this issue? What can be the solution?

Regards

We had a very similar issue, with all PDFs rendered in Chrome (not just iDempiere).
In our case, if you change the Zoom Level and then set it back to 100% you were able to see the PDF.

A recent Chrome Update (last week IIRC) fixed it for us (Linux Workstations).

Thank you for sharing your experience.

We are facing this PDF rendering issue both in Chrome and Microsoft Edge in Windows Environment. However, Firefox works well.

Makes sense, Edge on Windows is using the Chromium Rendering Engine. So it's pretty much Chrome! :)

Thank you Hengsin,

I have created " ZK_USE_PDF_JS_VIEWER" in System Configurator as this is not available by default.

However, what value do we need to assign for this record? I tried "PDF" but it's not working.

Hi,

Haven't tested, but I think you can try Y

If is working, would be nice to add it to https://wiki.idempiere.org/en/System_Configurator_(Window_ID-50006) - on the list of all SysConfigs.

Regards,

Nicolas

I tried Y/P/PDF but nothing working. Any suggestion?

Still curious if this configuration works?

Hi, just tested, I can confirm several suppositions:

1 - chromium 91.0.4472.101 is affected by this bug (as expected)

2 - the workaround of changing the browser zoom level back and forth works

3 - setting SysConfig ZK_USE_PDF_JS_VIEWER=Y works perfect - the pdf.js code is what is used in firefox, so the behavior becomes the same as firefox

4 - firefox doesn't have this problem

I closed IDEMPIERE-4812 because is a browser bug, not iDempiere, and annotated there the workarounds.

Regards,

Carlos Ruiz

Hi,

ZK_USE_PDF_JS_VIEWER=Y doesn't work for me, unfortunately.

Yes true, its a Browser (Chrome) side bug and  91.0.4472.101 version is affected.

Another solution is to add  PDF Viewer extension to your chrome. The below link will help you to add this extension:
