Hi,

I'm trying to install iDempiere for the first time.
The server is Ubuntu 16.04.1 with Postgres 9.4 and openjdk-7.
I tried to use the debian installer but is not working. It is searching for "postgresql-contrib" and because the name is "postgresql-contrib-9.4" it is giving up.
So I downloaded idempiereServer3.1.gtk.linux.x86_64.zip, uncompress it and tried to run "console-setup.sh" (I'm trying to install it on a server over ssh).
"console-setup.sh" is just starting and getting stuck. As a process he is launching:
  392 pts/2    S+     0:00 sh console-setup.sh
  393 pts/2    S+     0:00 ./idempiere --launcher.ini setup.ini -application org.adempiere.install.console-application
  404 pts/2    Sl+    0:01 /usr/bin/java -Dosgi.noShutdown=false -Dosgi.compatibility.bootdelegation=true -XX:MaxPermSize=192m -jar /home/ddan/iDempiere/idempiere.gtk.l

Please can you give me some hints? What should I check/do in order to install iDempiere?

Thanks,
Andrei

Hi Andrei,

try to use console-setup-alt.sh

From my experience:
- when asked for the database do explicitely choose one, do not rely on
the default
- as a minimum set the server on which you are installing idempiere as
the email server, even if there is no email service running. The user
and so on can be left unconfigured. Otherwise it will ask you again and
again

Hi Dirk,

Thanks for your reply.
I tried also the console-setup-alt.sh and I don't see any difference.
The output is:

Setup idempiere Server
JAVA_HOME is not set.
You may not be able to start the Setup
Set JAVA_HOME to the directory of your local JDK.
Aug 05, 2016 10:26:43 AM org.compiere.install.ConfigurationData load
INFO: Defaults
Java Home [/usr/lib/jvm/java-7-openjdk-amd64]:

an it is stuck here.
I don't receive any dialog to choose database, email or anything else.

Thanks,
Andrei

Hi,

I find out the solution.
It seems that after launching the "console.sh" is neccessary to hit "Enter" in order to receive the configuration questions.
Otherwise the script is not presenting the configuration questions.

Best regards,
Andrei

Actually that's the first question: setting the java home path. When you hit enter it will take the default value in the bracket.

Now, after you said it, it makes sense. But when I saw that line I assumed that is just an infromation message and I have to wait untill is loaded.

Thanks,
Andrei
