Hi All,

I am a newbie to iDempiere and I have a bit of an issue during install of Windows x64. The install script seems to thing that Postgres 9.3 is still installed in my machine, but I can guarantee it isn't. I have removed all registry entries regarding postgres that I could find and seemed safe to remove; I have manually removed all directories (inc. pgdata, app directories, etc).

Can anyone please tell me how the iDempiere installer determines the existence of a postgresql server. I did attempt a previous install and it failed, so I uninstalled and tried again and I cannot for the life of me work out how it thinks a postgresql server is installed. It says it is installed at a directory, but there is no such directory.

Many thanks in advance,
Lance

Hi Lance.
Although you are from Windows world...it's a lot easier to install on Linux OS ...it's a Lot well documented and stable.
If you think you can't do it, you can try to download a VMware/virtual box template.

Hi Paulo,

I am actually more comfy on Linux - I want to install on Windows as my current system (MYOB v 17 - very old)  has all but died and I want to do all the migration to iDempiere and then export, rebuild the machine as Linux (probably MINT) and then import to a Linux box (with a VM running Windows as kids play Win games :-()

Many thanks,
Lance

Hi Lance,

I am not in this technical depth of iDempiere, but I wonder which install routine (old installer 2.0) or which part of the stepwise normal install routines (in which version) you refer to. And what is the exact message your iDempiere installer gives you?
These information would help to locate your problem.

As you can see by the installation descriptions e.g. below in Windows a lot is controlled by the (system) variables of windows. You say you took all out, and I hope you did the necessary restart after changing the system variables.

If you look for manual installation steps most instructive for me were the following description:
http://codingtrabla.blogspot.de/2016/08/install-idempiere-erp-on-windows-7-x64.html
<http://codingtrabla.blogspot.de/2016/08/install-idempiere-erp-on-windows-7-x64.html>
It says win 7 but that is very similar to Win 10. There are many pictures, some advertisement and also a helpful video. ;-)

Best regards and hope you find a solution,
Frank
