Hi

I've just go my version 9 development environment up and running and have come across the new ssl browser requirements?

In the meantime I discover that it's still possible to use my web browser without ssl on localhost:8443. However, having gone this route to install the new theme pack plugin from anozi via the felix console I find the plugin disappears each time I restart eclipse? I'm having to reinstall each time - am I missing something when I install the plugin or is it to do with how I am accessing the application through port 8443?

Also I'm a bit lost regarding 'letsencrypt' as 'localhost' doesn't work as an option when asked for domain name. Is this really for deploying a production server (hence the request for a bona fide domain) or is it something I should be able to do in my development and test environment on a local machine?

Please excuse my ignorance....

Thanks in advance,

Crispian

If you're running from eclipse then you should add it to the configuration: Open Run >> Run Configurations... / Debug Configurations >> Select server.product (I usually make duplicate of it) >> go to tab Plug-ins >> make sure the plugin you want to start checked.

You don't need a certificate for local development.

Simply navigate to https://localhost:8443  (or whatever port you chose as SSL in setup)

Hi Anozi,

Apologies but am still having difficulty with the plug-in.

I've run the server up in eclipse and installed the plugins via felix, however they do not show in the listing under the plug-ins tab in Run >> Run Configurations... / Debug Configurations ?

Is there a refresh or something to perform that i'm missing?

Thanks

Crispian

You have to import the plugin source code to eclipse first. You don't need to install it via felix if you're running it from eclipse.

Hi Anozi,

Apologies again, I seem to have mental block each time I create a new development environment and overlook the fact plugins require importing. Maybe next year I'll get it!
