Modern POS for big restaurant franchise - Case study needed

Hi All

I would like to get in touch with someone who is using or who implemented a Web-based POS (like Openbravo) integrated with iDempiere for a restaurant business with more than 5 franchise locations/shops.

I would like to evaluate how well it would work for a chain that has around 10-15 POS terminals (iPads/Android Tablets) and 5-7 slip printers per shop, and will be adding many more shops, so any leads will be very much appreciated. I will share all my findings back here, of course.

Coenraad, knowing your technical wizardry, i suggest you setup a cheap test kit comprising of a IPad or any web based terminal to run the OB POS UI, a webservice with the iDempiere in some cloud or public IP in the premise and two slip printers plus one extra display (in the 'kitchen') and try to discover issues from there. Test, test, test.

We are SmartjSP team, we have been working with POS solutions integreated with adempiere (using activeMQ), with idempiere (rabbitMQ) for a while.. First releases of our SmartPOS until 2.1 were based in OBPOS (client-server),but based in our customer requirements we change  to a complete new architecture (100% web  + OSGI) and already integrated with Idempiere to maximize the ERP features used within the POS for pricing, discounts,promotions and so on.

We already support multiple organization (branches with their own products, price list, and so on) out of the box.. Though we have been focussed within the pharmacy industry in the last year but we also support most of the restaurant use cases .... and we have tested our ordering windows on touch screen devices (7" tablets or greater) with good results ...
