Installation Problems

Hi everyone,

I've been trying to install iDempiere for quite some time and am unable to do so. I've been reading the documentation and looking up tutorials on youtube but still no luck.

I have so far installed Java and PostGre but when I run setup.bat in idempiere, I get an error:

Here are the steps I'm taking:

Create a new user in PostGre

Username is called adempiere:

Password is just 'idempiere123$%'

Then I create the new database:

Database name is 'idempiere' and owner is 'adempiere'

Then I try press 'test' in the installer and get the error that described in the first image. I've tried all sorts of password combinations, but nothing is working.

For DB Admin Password, I used the same password that I put in when I was installing PostGre and then for Database Password, I've tried the same password as for DB Admin Password, 'idempiere123$%' and no password.

Anyone have any idea as to what I'm doing wrong?

have you edit your pg_hba.conf file? refer to http://wiki.idempiere.org/en/Developing_Plug-Ins_-_Setup_the_workspace

Hello, 

Try changing the application server to "localhost", and change the database server to "localhost" too..
that solve this problem when i encountered it not so long ago..

Hi Guys,

Back at it, still haven't been able to install it but I feel like success isn't too far away!

I'm now only stuck at the database password stage:

Regardless of whether I tick "DB Already Exists", I get an error next to "Database Password".

I'm pretty certain I created the adempiere user and the idempiere db correctly.

hello,

what did you insert into the DB password field??

it should be filled with the password you made for the user of the database.
for the case that you write in the thread, you should filled it with "idempiere123$%"

Hi Rheine,

In the installation box I put in "idempiere123$%" in the "Database Password" field. So should work, but alas.

If I tick the DB Already Exists box, I get an error:

hello Dmitry,

ok, this case is kinda weird, 
if you really just want to connect to the database of idempiere,
just follow the instruction from the page 
and use the default DB seed,

i recommend that you create the base for the database using that method.
after you have established the default DB using user adempiere with password adempiere,

then you can alter the password or the name of the user with your own preference.

After that you can use your own modified DB using the schema that idempiere already made for you..

Because i did this method, and i didn't occur any problem like yours..

TL;DR use the CMD psql script

Hi Dmitry,

When you are creating adempiere role, you should into "Roles Privileges" tab and mark the follow options:

1) Can login

2) Inherits rigths from parent roles

3) Superuser

Finally got through the setup stage but now I'm trying to import the database with utils->RUN_ImportIdempiere I get errors as per attachment.

So it's obviously unable to find a file that isn't there. The only files that are there are in the second attached screenshot.

I think you're using some special characters in the password and the
scripts are not interpreting well that.

Carlos, you're the man! It was the password after all. It was the main password not the adempiere login role password!

However, you guessed it, another problem. If I now launch iDempiere with 'idempiere' shortcut, it starts loading the server but then stops.

I just get a bunch of 'Driver.connect: Connection error:  [39]/[40]/[41]' which repeat randomly and then the execution just stops at some point completely (as per attachment).

If I run setup again, I get the error:

Error JDBC Connection

(Database imported?) etc...

 as per attachment.

Typing 'localhost:8080' into my browser also doesn't do anything, returns:

This site can’t be reached

localhost refused to connect.

• Search Google for localhost 8080

This time you have the password for adempiere wrong. There are two users - Admin pwd (uid: Postgres) and database password (UID: adempiere)

I would recommend logging in to postgres through pgadmin 3 (UID: postgres). reset the pwd for UID: adempiere to something simple (pass123) and try again.

I am a newbie hoping in evaluate idempiere in a windows environment

 I am using postgresql 15 ,java 1.6.0.45, i have created database idempiere with user adempiere with password. I have installed the java 1.6.0.45. (I had to remove java 1.8.0 which was not recognised by the installer. the windows installer i am using is idempiere 2 x64 setu.exe.

I am stuck at testing with errors

1.  "JDBC connection (Database imported ? cannot connect to user adempiere/adempiere). this error come when database exists checkbox is ticked

2. " JDBC connecdtion ( error connectiing :jdbc:postgresql:Kurisc:5432/template1 - postgres/) when database exists checkbox is unticked

can someone help me ?

Hi Kuri Sammy,

Seems like you must be following a very obsolete guide.

The actual version of iDempiere requires java 11.

To install a development environment for iDempiere I would recommend you to follow this 8-part guide:

To test just for a quick testing of the capabilities (not development) maybe is better to install it using docker.

Hello,

I have gone thru the steps and can't go past the last step of creating roles and super user password. (adempiere/adempiere)

C:\Users\sammy>psql -U postgres -c "CREATE ROLE adempiere SUPERUSER LOGIN PASSWORD 'adempiere'"
psql: error: connection to server at "localhost" (::1), port 5432 failed: FATAL:  password authentication failed for user "postgres"

C:\Users\sammy>psql -U postgres
psql: error: connection to server at "localhost" (::1), port 5432 failed: FATAL:  password authentication failed for user "postgres"

when I check services i see postgresql running

when i check resource monitor , i see 2 instances of postgre.exe running port 5432 ( IPv4 and IPV6)

I am able to get pgadmin 4 running

Maybe you have a .pgpass or pgpass.conf file from where postgres is reading a wrong password?

I have not seen that error before.

two things to verify:

1 - which eclipse version are you using?  I'm still running 2022-03, not sure if others are using fresher versions

2 - did the setup changed things?  Sometimes the setup process changes things in the repository and it needs to be reverted.

A screenshot of your eclipse can help maybe to understand.

If you are trying to setup an iDempiere Development environment with Eclipse:

- After many failed attempts, it is better to start with a fresh clone of iDempiere source

- Run "mvn verify" at the root folder of the clone source. Make sure this is completed without any errors.

- Note that if you have multiple JDK install on your pc, you should set JAVA_HOME environment variable pointing to JDK11 before you run "mvn verify"

- Follow the steps at https://wiki.idempiere.org/en/NF11_OOMPH_Import_Projects to setup your Eclispe workspace.
