Trying to educate myself on migrating idempiere ver 3.1 to 4.1 on a running Windows server 2008

I have idempiere running on a Windows 2008 server.

I want to modify some fields/columns in my current working version, then attempt a
migration to see if any of my modified columns remain in the new version.

My question is:

Are the migration steps defined somewhere?

Hi. If you run the migration scripts, do not lose your changes. Check this link: http://wiki.idempiere.org/en/Migration_Notes#Migration_Scripts.

Regards!.

Where are the migration scripts located?

I'm assuming they are in the download. Is that correct?

This is the latest version of idempiere for Windows: "idempiereServer4.1Daily.win64.win64.x86_64.zip"
There are no folders in the unzipped download that are described in the link you provided.

I'll need a few more clues.

The migration scripts are in the source so you need to pull / download the source first.

The migration folder is in your idempiere source folder.
You can import it into your eclipse.

Ok.

1.  I clicked on the link provided by Anozi. (Thank you)

2. I clicked on i4.1.

Below i4.1 there are two database options; Oracle and Postgresql

Since I use postgresql, I clicked on the postgresql link.
There are several sql statements eg;(201701131446_IDEMPIERE-3279.sql)

Questions:

For clarification, are you referring to these .sql files as scripts?
If yes, what order should the scripts be run in?

Thanks you again for the guidance.

Yes those are the migration scripts. You should execute it in order by folder and name.

Also you might want to check the last applied migration script in your database by running this query
select name from ad_migrationscript order by 1
and search for that file. You might not start from folder i4.1, it's possible you need to start from some files in i3.1z or even i3.1
