Hi everyone,

I have been evaluating Idempiere and Ofbiz to implement as my ERP and just had a couple of questions. Basically, Idempiere has everything I want/need for my biz except for linking incoming mail to the biz partner it comes from and a decent webstore. The email is a huge feature for me as it really helps keep things nice and tidy and in one place. It could also be a deal breaker for me. The webstore isn't that big a deal as I could incorporate magento or prestashop relatively easily.

So one question is: Is incoming mail in the pipeline or even being considered?

2. Would it be very difficult to add a "create order" button on the biz partner/customer screen to be able to create orders from there directly? (Sorry if I missed it. But couldn't find anything similar in the demo)

With jsut a couple of extras and a good facelift (read, useability) I think Idempiere could literally run circles around anything else out there and probably already does!!!

Thanks in advanced

You can read up on the code review https://idempiere.atlassian.net/browse/IDEMPIERE-2244
and the model and code http://red1.org/DocBook/RequestEMailProcessorPrc.html (click on the ClassName to get the APIdoc and Image for related model window)
some context: http://wiki.idempiere.org/en/Client_%28Window_ID-109%29
It is more linked to the Request module (CRM - ticketing) which is integrated to User-BPartner that sends in the request. Then you can extend code to have the request processor look at the option you described, ie, a checkbox to say create new Order, mail it as well as attach to the request for reference.

Hi,

The request email processor has been upgrated in order to generate a file which contains the mail's content. It also remove unused code (see first link given by red1)
I did not take the time to test the last patch submitted by Carlos Ruiz (IDEMPIERE-2244_req.patch)
It would be great if you could test it and give feedback.

Thanks,

Nicolas

Wow! Thanks for the fast replies.

I also forgot to ask about sending mails from Idempiere and more to the point, from the biz partner screen itself. This is probably not so critical but if you can keep everything in one place for the telesales/sales staff the faster they can react with less effort.

Using a plugin, you can easily add a button in the toolbar which will open the Email dialog (which is actually opened when you send a report or do feedback > Email)

Yeah I saw that integration with thunderbird was possible but it might not be ideal. Anyone else looking for this type of email function in Idempiere? Would it even be possible?

I don't get what you mean when talking about "that integration with thunderbird". Could you elaborate a little more please ?

Sorry, that might have been Adempiere being able to send mail through Thunderbird.

However this might be similar:

Double Click Sistemas C.A wrote a plugin called Attachment Scanner which adds a button to the toolbar.

Let me know if you'd like a copy, I will try to track it down on my hard drive.
