Hi community,

Long time ago (august 2010) Zeeshan Hasan (Sysnova) sponsored me to pack an ubuntu installer.

You can see the historic thread where I published and people tested and gave feedback here http://sourceforge.net/p/adempiere/discussion/610548/thread/e48a5698
Unfortunately that contribution didn't make it through Adempiere.

So I decided to repeat the work here, and now I'm glad to publish the iDempiere Debian Installer (note I tested it on a vbox ubuntu 12.04 with openjdk-java6 and postgresql-9.1).

I'll appreciate all your tests and feedback that you can provide to make it better.

I hope if this is successful maybe we could try to set a ppa repository to make it available via apt-get, and then if everything goes fine maybe we can make the due dilligence to be on official Ubuntu repositories.
Any advice/help on these matters is also welcome - I'm not aware of the work needed to set up ppa or be accepted in official repos.

Regards,

Carlos Ruiz

Hi Carlos,

For what it is worth, I use this script to iDempiere. I have used it to install about 100 systems over the last 3 months. I use it to install simple systems as well as more complex ones where the DB is on one server (and the drive is on a separate disk) and the UI is on a second server. Let me know if there is anything useful there.

Thanks Chuck, your script looks great, I see your script has a wider goal.

There are some TODOs on the etc/init.d/idempiere of the Debian installer that could be checked against your script.
# TODO: ask for certificate data (or integrate with openssl certificate)
# TODO: ask for mail server settings
# TODO: ask for postgres port (and perhaps machine if it's remote)

BTW - off topic - instead of s3cmd I've been using https://aws.amazon.com/cli/ with excellent results.

Carlos Ruiz

Hi guys;

I'll like to install using .deb package on my ubuntu ec2 (aws), but, on a database server separated. I did install with postgres and all requirements on a ec2 instance. But now, I will like to know if is possible change the database address on configuration files on /opt/idempiere-server (idempiereEnv.properties?).

Thanks;

So, I did a fast search on idempiere.properties and idempiereEnv.properties, and I changed the database server address, and pointed to my vpc ec2 instance. This works fine for me.
