Choose Tax based on custom field

Hello everyone,

I need iDempiere to choose the tax on the invoice-, order-, etc. lines based on a custom field I have in the project window.
So e.g. if an invoice is referenced to project where the custom checkbox is checked, there should be exempt tax rate on all lines of the invoice.

I found this:

but I feel this is not really solving my problem as I think it doesn't define which tax is used but how it is calculated.
Also the Tax Provider is referenced from the Tax Rate Window, so I guess it is only called if the "referencing Tax Rate" is chosen?

Anyway, if somebody has an idea how to implement this in a more or less clean way, or if there is a feature in iDempiere that lets me configure this I would be thankful for any advice.
