Swing Client v4.1 Daily - Communication Error (1001)

Hello,

I was just getting started to learn about iDempiere and was trying to use the swing client but I encountered some problems.

I am using Windows 10 and here are some things I have installed:

- iDempiere Server version 4.1 Daily

- iDempiere Client version 4.1 Daily

- PostgreSQL version 9.6.4

- Java SE Development Kit 8

All the installations were done fine. I followed the guide in the iDempiere wiki while making some adjustments for Windows 10. The wiki mostly explained in detail for Linux and here I am using Windows.

I tried accessing the local web UI and I was able to log in to the web. I assume this means that my local iDempiere server was working fine.

Then I tried to use the swing client. My problem is that when I tried to Test Application Server, it said that "Communication Error (1001) - The connector failed to complete communication with the server". I am not sure what caused this. As an additional info, when I did Test Database, it was fine.

Is there anything I should be looking at? I am pretty new in this and I might have missed some setting or error that I should have paid attention to.

Are you running idempiere-server.bat ? Idempiere use a Web client

Yes, I ran the idempiere-server.bat then I opened the web UI.

Ok I recommend you only use the webui interface, enter with SuperUser and password System (is case sensitivity)

Alright, thank you for the advice. I am planning to mainly use the web UI, but currently I am required to make some sort of documentation on how to get the swing client work. It is only for educational purpose though. So yeah, I guess I still need to get it done. Thank you so much for your help, I really appreciate it.

Thank you for pointing that out. I have found the solution here.

So basically it is okay to get that error. As long as the database connection works, we can use swing client.
