Firstly, congratulations on the Devina beta release.
Secondly, I have done some comparison between openbravo and idempiere quickly for this new version (focus on webui interface).
Here is my conclusion about user friendly for community's interest:

1. idempiere is much simple and good for long time use on the same page. Because most of idempiere window just has only 2 columns. While openbravo has 4 columns. Eye will be much tired for openbravo.
So idempiere win on this.

2. Openbravo has much information on grid view than idempiere. openbravo's grid view looks pretty good as a true table. But idempiere zkoss looks not so informative. This round, openbravo win.

3. when try to entry transaction data like purchase invoice, it's almost the same for invoice header. But it's very different when entry invoice line. idempiere will open a new window to entry the line, while openbravo can do it in the same window.
It makes openbravo possible to see the invoice header always. Also it's convenient to navigate to other sub tabs like taxs very quickly in the same main windows without click the breadcum link in idempiere.
This round, openbravo has big wins! I hope idempiere community can think this different seriously. Because it will improve user productivity obviously.

Thanks for idempiere community's good work again!

Thanks Alex for the feedback, perhaps you're not aware of the greatest
features iDempiere Devina has:

1. The number of columns is 100% configurable on iDempiere.

2. Grid view is 100% configurable on iDempiere - so if you don't find
the columns you need is just a matter of configuring it properly

3. Entering lines in detail is configurable in a very easy way on iDempiere

Regards,

Carlos Ruiz

Hi Carlos,

Thanks very much for your quick reply.

for Item3, could you let me know how to edit the detail record such as invoice line, in form view on the top pane? I know in grid view model it's ok to edit the detail record. But there is no way to switch to form view. If you double click the detail record, it will navigate to another pane.

I have found a related doc from New001 in wiki http://wiki.idempiere.org/en/NF001_NewMasterDetail
But didn't find how to configure it.

Thanks,
Alex

The split view doesn't support edit/create detail record in form view, only grid view is supported.

Thanks Heng Sin.

Do you think it's worth idempiere to have this feature in future?
Per my understanding, in a master/detail view, it would be very nice to edit detail record in form view in top pane. It's highly expected to improve the productivity of input considering a man will input hundreds document in their daily work.

If you think it's worth to have this feature, it may only need to add a toolbar button such like "form view button" to switch between grid view and form view for detail record. Or share the same button with master record like save and ignore feature.

Thanks,
Alex

hi, for high volumn data entry, the idea here is to customized the detail grid view with the columns your customer usually need for edit/create.

for your proposal, please create a new feature requet in jira so we can look at it in future.

Hi

I do find the proposal from Alex very valid and to some extend the missing brick in the puzzle for a very well implemented UI.

The suggestion in http://jira.idempiere.com/browse/IDEMPIERE-886 will give the needed overview that the status bar is not able to give!

Just my 2 cent

/Flemming
