Hi everyone.

There is a common business requirement within the retail industry adn with POS to have multiple taxes per product or product/category (sales, tourism, and others).

Due to the current limitation of the product category to have only one tax, within our SmartPOS project/plugin we support these scenario of multiple taxes....taking the the remanining taxes and inserting them as additional tax lines in the sales orders and invoices,  but we are wondering, if there are any future plan to support this scenario in the close future or perhaps with a different approach ?   you feedback is appreciated ...

Hi,

It can be done by using tax rule implementation. Tax rule is a combination of different taxex where we can configure parent tax, dependent tax, cumulative tax, deductable tax. Also user can configure parent tax rule where a rule will be dependent on other rule.
User will select a rule instead of tax from the list in PO/SO, Invoice, Journal voucher transactions.

Thanks for your feedback .but  I see that you guys are using some workarounds to fulfill this requirement in part, but not sure you are addresing the scope of my original question, that is more  related to support this -multiple-tax per product category or product- out-of-the box due to the fact that many industries are requiring them ..... any other feedback ?

Pedro, iDempiere (since Compiere times) support multi-tax out of the box (all the multis from Jorg Janke design).

What Norbert said is the key -> parent/child tax.  There is one example in GardenWorld with Canadian taxes.

Hi everyone and thanks again for your feedback, we have been tested the functionality that you described and we noticed that:

1. We can group many tax rates (children) to 1 tax rate (parent) and them assign them to 1 tax category and finally assign it to the  product category.    (OK)
2. Once we want to generate an invoice for a product in that category, when we prepare the document, we see the summary of the total of taxes (total of the parent that group the children) ...

3. Once we complete the invoice, the parent total is removed and instead we see the two tax rates (children), with its totals per individual lines as expected.

However, during the process two questions arise...

A. if we assign different cities to each of the tax rate (children),   is it supported that Idempiere just apply the correct tax rate depending on the location of the customer ? we tested within GardenWorld and LCO, but it does not seem to be filtering the tax rates per cities ....but we want to be sure that is support or not yet ...could you guys confirm if you have used something like that within Idempiere 3.1?

B.Is there any option or parameter to see the full detail of the tax rate (children) during the "prepare" stage process of the document and not the full tax rate (parent) total as it is currently happening ?

If any of these use cases is not supporting let us know your suggestions or workaround to filter the tax rates per city, we are already thinking in some coding(callouts, and so on)  but just want to verify that we do not duplicate efforts ....and synchronize a common & flexible approach.

Regards,

Pedro R.
