because i think about make a new dimension is order_line_id.

I read "User Element will allow you to define any Table's Column to be used as a new dimension" and think i is suitable, because i want make column order_line_id as a dimension.
but i also read "As for User Element, it is quite simple and straight forward and is not the intention of this tutorial."
I don't know "simple and straight forward" :) because I don't begin try setup it.

please help me if you can.

you define a new element in the account element, define the elements and tree in second tab and just use it.

Hiep, I just set up a new Dimension for an Account Element called Industry on http://demo.idempiere.com

You can check the setup there.

As that configuration will be gone on next db refresh I would suggest to create a wiki page to document that configuration if possible.

Dear Carlos,

This is a gud job, i was searching for this sort of a feature.
I need to create two dimensions that is 'Cost Center' & 'Department" to capture financial transactions.
I have a issue on adding these dimensions to transaction windows and also to reports as parameters.
Do i need to add these one by one to to transaction windows or is there any single process to add these dimensions to all transaction windows.

Thanks.

This way is also ok with me. but current i see new element of tree is manual create.
how to make it auto as is org, business partner,..

In tree window, field type|area i see use1->user4
maybe link it to order_line_id?

I will update wiki when i complete.

Hi Everyone,

I need to make my custom table as a new account dimension. I try to use User Element type approach as pointed here ;
  1. Create new Account schema dimension in Accounting Schema window
  2. Chose User Column 1 Type, and
  3. Select my custom ID column.
But then I found out that UserElement1_ID element is only used on C_ValidCombination and Fact_Acct. In GL_JournalLine is in active and there isn't used in any other table like Invoice or Payment.
So is User Element type approach for custom account dimension still valid?

Then I try to use User List type as last posted in this post. My questions are:
  1. How to link new element with custom table? ( so user can zoom into custom table)
  2. Is there a way to automatically create element based on custom table? (instead of create manually)
Thank you for your help.

Regards,
Iqbal

Hi Iqbal,
If I understand you correctly, you are looking to add a new accounting dimension by using User column 1/2. The problem here is "User column 1" doesn't appear in all the documents. And User element allows only Account Element.
I think this can be solved by adding a key column field wherever you need it and when the document is complete the system automatically captures column data and writes in Facts Acct table User Column field. I have been using the same approach to track charges/expenses linked with Assets etc.
Hope this helps!!

Suman
