Hi community,

We are again on the time to prepare and test a new release.

So, until today the version 13 has been labeled as "Development"

Today we start the freeze and the version 13 is a "Release Candidate"

Freeze means to focus exclusively in bug fixes and stabilization.
New functionalities will not be added during this freeze period (although we can make some exceptions for minor non-disruptive or very important new features).

The idea is that we are planning at least one month of stabilization, during this period the expectation is:
* plugin maintainers have time to test and synchronize their plugins with the upcoming version
* language maintainers can synchronize the translations
* community altogether have time to test new features and report potential performance and stability issues

With this in mind, during the next month we have planned also to hold a couple of community days with different activities, we are looking forward to your participation and help to make the upgrade as smooth as possible, Diego will announce soon.

Hopefully, in one month, if there are not blocker bugs reported, the version 13 (we're looking for a version name too) will be officially released (labeled as Stable), maintained during the next year, and the new version 14 for development will be created.

Regards,

Carlos Ruiz

During the recent community testing days, the testers helped us uncover some issues that are stoppers for the upcoming v13 release. Some of these bugs are particularly critical and the fixes are likely to be disruptive in core areas.

Releasing as planned, knowing these issues exist, would not match who we are as a project. iDempiere has always put stability, high-quality and data safety first, and we are continuing to follow that principle.

What happens next
  • We will apply and review the critical fixes carefully, as they affect core functionality.

  • Once these fixes are in, we will run a second community testing phase, focused on:

    • Retesting the areas touched by the fixes

    • Re-running key regression scenarios from the first round

  • If no new blocker bugs are reported in that round, version 13 will be officially released about a month from now.

Why this is the part of the release process

  • Community testing is designed to reveal exactly these kinds of problems before they affect production systems.

  • When blockers appear, we fix them, verify them with the community, and only then call a release “done”.

  • This approach has always been at the core of how we support our community: by releasing software that teams can trust

How you can help

  • Join the second testing phase when we announce it.

  • Re-run your previous test cases, especially in the modules impacted by the fixes.

  • Keep reporting anything that looks risky for real-life usage.

Thanks again to everyone who tested and reported issues. Your contributions are exactly what keeps iDempiere a reliable, community-powered ERP.
