Editing LayoutEngine.java

Any can any one tell me how to edit the standard PDF format or idempiere to something like the picture below

any tutorial or example may help or your own LayoutEngine.java customized format will be, dont mind the japanese 

characters just the layout that will llok like that . im using eclipse by the way. thx in advance

Hi Lance,

You can create a layout like this without editing java code just by
configuring the print format.

Please see at http://demo.idempiere.com at GardenWorld how an invoice
looks if printed. In this form you can see how the output in principle
looks like. Does this suit your need?

You can change the print format when in the print or the report window
by clicking at the "edit print format" button (the one with the crossed
tools).

To do it from scratch I would advice to better look first at the invoice
of GardenWorld to see how it works. Then you should play around creating
and changing tabular reports to get a feeling how this works.

When definining a report as "form" or not you change the whole layout
mode of the report. Do this first and then decide which fields to use where.

To be short you should first do a "form" print format for the header of
your document. The lines are created as a subreport (not "form" but
tabular). In the header format you enter one single entry for the
subreport and give a reference to this report.

If you got it it would be very nice if you begin some better
documentation in our wiki. There is a lack of it. Searching the
adempiere wiki I found some pages that might help a bit but no really
good introduction I could recommend. Read http://www.adempiere.com/Report
