Description

Welcome to the IDEAX group!

Why IDEAX? IDEAX addresses a growing challenge in modern research literature: The increasing emphasis on incremental extensions over foundational conceptual advances. While extensions and generalizations remain important, they can sometimes overshadow the original ideas that fundamentally changed the direction of a field. IDEAX aims to create a focused venue dedicated to identifying, preserving, and communicating those core intellectual contributions that introduced genuinely new paradigms, frameworks, or ways of thinking.

What are the scope and format of IDEAX? The primary goal of IDEAX is to spotlight seminal ideas in control systems and related areas in their simplest and most fundamental form through concise YouTube talks. Rather than emphasizing technical complexity or exhaustive derivations, IDEAX focuses on the underlying conceptual breakthrough itself: The key insight that initiated a new research direction. The scope includes foundational contributions, where talks emphasize originality, conceptual clarity, historical significance, and long-term research impact rather than incremental refinements or specialized extensions.

How is IDEAX guided? To help preserve the intellectual focus and long-term vision of the initiative, IDEAX is guided by an Advisory Board consisting of distinguished researchers in control systems and related fields (see https://www.tanselyucelen.com/ideax). The role of the Advisory Board is to help identify foundational contributions that introduced genuinely new directions to the field, provide perspective on historical and scientific significance, and support the broader mission of highlighting transformative ideas with enduring impact.

How can I participate in IDEAX? This group serves as a central forum for IDEAX updates and announcements. Members may also use ideaxtalks@googlegroups.com to share relevant topics related to foundational ideas in control systems, recommend speakers for IDEAX, and suggest seminal contributions that should be featured. Relevant recommendations and suggestions will be reviewed by the IDEAX Advisory Board twice annually (at least) for potential inclusion in future YouTube talks.
