Idealist use

a remarkable program - and even after much searching can find no
suitable replacement. I came across v3. on a magazine cover disk back
in the mid-nineties and am still using it today (on Windows 7 running
under XP Mode).
I have never tried version 5.0 and would be very interested. The main
problem I have is that as this was a cover disk version it only came
with the rather minamilist Windows help files. My questions to the
group are is it possible to obtain a copy of 5.0 and also is it
possible to obtain a copy of the manual (for versions 3 and 5) and has
anyone come across anything that approaches the speed and flexibility
of Idealist?

It is possible to get hold version 5, but I'm not sure I would
recommend it. I haven't been able to install it successfully and
others who have succeeded have commented that it is less stable than
version 3. I can let you have a pdf of the v.3 manual, which one of
the other group members kindly scanned.
As for alternatives to Idealist, I have still to come across anything
that really satisfies. One possibility is ConnectedText, which is a
very powerful personal wiki.
