Hey everyone,

Applications are open through October 31 for the Illinois Organic Grain Mentorship Program, running December 2025–November 2026.

This free, year-long program pairs Illinois farmers exploring organic grain production with experienced certified organic mentors. Together, they’ll set goals, learn hands-on strategies for success, and gain support from the program coordinator.

With ongoing challenges in U.S. soybean exports, now is a great time to look at new markets. Organic and transitional non-GMO soybeans continue to offer consistent demand and price premiums, making this an ideal time to explore what organic could mean for your farm.

Mentees receive:

  • One-on-one mentorship and technical assistance

  • Access to self-paced online learning modules

  • Free registration for the 2026 Organic Grain Conference (February 2026)

We’re also accepting mentor applications from certified organic grain farmers in Illinois.

  • Mentors are compensated $2,000 for approximately 40 hours of work over the year.

  • Support and guidance provided throughout the program.

 Apply by October 31: https://www.thelandconnection.org/assistance/organic-grain-mentorship/

What to chat more? Email me and we can set up a time (even if you're mutli-tasking in the tractor!).

Please share this opportunity with farmers, advisors, and ag organizations in your network — it’s a great way to strengthen organic grain knowledge and community across Illinois.

Thanks for helping spread the word,

--
