Hello all!

The next version of the cfsfdisk partitioning tool is taking shape. I don't
have access now to my hardware collection for testing, so if anyone has some
time to run it for a trial would be greatly appreciated. No need to
repartition or format, I'd just like to know if the geometry detection is ok,
and if it's easy to use enough. As long as the "direct write" option is not
enabled in setup nothing can go wrong, but it can also be used on spare disk
otherwise unused for real. If it displays strange messages about
geometry/partitioning problems I'd like get the output of the "save table to
file" command to see what can be done about it.

Changes over 0.10b:

Improved(?) font
Default device number set when prompted
Displays DOS version
Extra spaces removed from model/serial/revision display
Y/N prompts display default choice
Geometry setting and LBA mode toggle moved into "expert geometry setup"
Geometry questions only asked if it couldn't be determined or were incorrect
Command for save/load partition table to/from file
Commands give always a kind of feedback when executed.
Countdown while formatting for progress display
Partition start alignment when CF card is detected
Default partition size is 2 GiB, not the whole disk
Boot sector geometry mismatch detection, invalid geometry detection
Uses actual geometry instead of default for CHS disks
No partition prompt if only one is present
Default for partition questions
Default partition and disklabel is the actual label
Create default labels for partitions
Make sure there's a boot partition selected before writing

Hey Soci,

It's been a long time :)
As there was no reply yet, i tested it on my hardware.
Hardware: C64 with IDE64 v4.1, IDEDOS 0.90 and 8GB Transcend Compact
Flash connected with USB on PC.

After starting CFSDisk, i use default device number 12

Here is the output:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DOS: 73, ide dos v0.90 ide64,000,000,000,000
Drive 12: 15662304 LBA sectors (7647 MiB)
Model number: TRANSCEND
Serial number: 20090803 CF13364C
Firmware version: 20090323

Creating new disk label
Creating new partition table

Command (m for help):
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So everything looks ok... No strange messages about geometry/
partitioning....
I can use this CF card for testing, so i will test it for real and let
you know if something strange happens.

Here is an update:

- Everything worked on first attempt when creating 1 partition with
default settings. After rebooting C64, no errors in MAN, all seems to
work fine.
- Now, i started CFSDisk for the second time, now i created two
partitions and after formatting, i get an error message in MAN on
partition 2 'device 12 error: 77, selected partition illegal,
002,000,000,000'
I turned off my C64, removed IDE64 card for 10 sec and booted up again
and started from scratch, on second attempt all worked fine. Both
partitions works...

That's it... I hope it helped a little....

Things i forgot to say:

- It is definitely better and user-friendly than previous version.
- Countdown when formatting is great
- Default partition size set to 2GB is great
- More sophisticated geometry detection
- More default settings so more user friendly.

So great work again Soci!

Just a thought, why not add an option/program so a default partition
is created automatically for the 'not so hardcore' users.
Even more user friendly as i can imagine it is still 'abracadabra' for
some IDE64 users.
