Active contours freezes my computer

Dear Developer,

I was trying to segment a 3D image stack (156x156x100, 2MB) using the active contours plugin but every time my computer froze half way. 

The system is:

Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment 1.8.0_51-b16 (64 bit)

Running on Windows 8.1 6.3 (amd64)

Number of processors : 16

System total memory : 31.9 GB

System available memory : 28.5 GB

Max java memory : 13.0 GB

Anything I can do to solve this problem?
