Hello,

I'm using spot detector on a lot of different images and for each image I would need a resumé of all the spots detected.
More precisely: at the end of the process of using spot detector, I obtain an Excel file with all the different spots and their information (intensity, size, position,...). I would like to obtain all these results, but also a resumé of all values, so a mean intensity of all spots, a mean size,... Is here a possibility to generate a file with this information?

Kind regards,

Alanah Pieters

Hi Alanah,

Well there is no way to do it automatically from Spot Detector but you can easily compute it from the excel file (using very basic formula). Do you have a lot of file to process ?

Best,

Hello Stephane,

Yes, I have more than 200 files... So I wanted to use the normal excel formula ('=AVERAGE(...)') but if I have to type this and select the column for every average and every file I have, it will take a lot of time...

Hi Alanah,

Ok i understand, indeed it will take too much time doing that manually.
I guess you want that out of the Spot Detector XLS files, which make it more complicated... it could be done using a (java)script which automatically compute it but the script won't be that easy to write.
Do you have someone in our lab who can write basic script (in whatever language) ? He may be able to sort that out (he can use the current available scripts in Icy as source examples), to be honest i'm not sure we can do that here as it requires probably a bit of time to tweak it as you want.

Best,

- Stephane

Hello Stephane,

I asked some people in the lab, but indeed, it is complicated, and the time it would take to write the script and perfection it, I can as well start the making the calculations by myself (which means a separate calculation for every file...) So a lot of work, but I need the results quiet quickly, so...
Thanks for your help anyway. And maybe a nice challenge for the ICY programmers? :)

Hello Alanah,

Sorry for not having better to propose, we might add some tools to easily customize the XLS output for things like that.
In the meatime i wish you good luck with your images ^^

Best,

- Stephane

Hello Stephane,

As my research is progressing, it seems like I will need this kind of analysis we talked about (Spot detector, but with a résumé for all the results in the excel output file), a lot more than I thought.
Is the Icy team thinking about adapting the spot detector output in this kind of way ...? I would be very grateful... ;)
