Dear fellow Icy protocol addicts,
We are pleased to announce (officially) two major updates of our popular Protocols interface!
In the first update (which has been online for a few weeks now), we added a search bar on the left-hand side of the Protocols interface, letting you search for blocks based on keywords, a-la-“Icy search bar”, along with a short description of what each block does.
In the second update (which was released minutes ago), we are now adding the possibility to rename, select and copy/paste blocks. Although these may seem like minor improvements, this opens up a huge amount of possibilities:
— Rename blocks (double-click on their name) to present a more appealing name to the end-user
— Duplicate a block or group of blocks (with their links if any)
— Copy a block or group of blocks from a protocol to another
— Create an inner workflow (including loops) from a selection of blocks
— “Break” inner workflows apart while preserving their selected content
— … and many other use cases you will find very handy as you go along
Both of these major updates have been contributed by Ludovic Laborde (cc-ed to this email) over the course of his graduating summer project in the lab. Kudos to you Ludovic, outstanding work!
Happy protocol-ing!
Alexandre
