Still about the same problem : The videotest.avi can't be opened in Icy. When I try to open the avi file with ImageJ there is an error message : Unsupported compression : 44495658'XVID'. The movie can be seen with VLC.
Thanks for your ideas...

Hi Éric,

I don't have the full background on this conversation, but have you tried importing it using the "Video Importer" plugin? That one should open many more video formats...

Hi,

I guess this is about the mice profiler plugin ?

  1. Open the plugin called mice profiler tracker (you can type mice in the search bar and select the proper plugin)
  2. Click the set/change video source button within the plugin.
  3. You video should appear on the associated viewer.

Best

Hi Eric,

I faced the same problem as you do. As your error message told you, your avi file is compressed in XVID codec, while ImageJ and Icy can only open uncompressed AVI file. So you will need a video convertor to uncompress your file before import it.
May be these will help:

PC users can use the free VirtualDub program to uncompress AVI files. Macintosh users can use QuickTime Pro to convert QuickTime movies into uncompressed AVI movies. Note that AVI files with audio tracks may fail to open.

Cheers,

Hi,

As I mentioned in a previous post, this is only partially true. The default opener is indeed restricted in terms of video support, however Icy has a specific plugin called "video importer", that is able to able to read a large number of common video formats (using the Xuggler library)

Hi,

Yes, Alexandre is right, the "video importer" may solve your problem, I just tried the plugin and it works with my compressed video.
Good luck.
