I use Icy for obtaining MSD values. How do I convert MSD units to m^2/s (I know my pixel size and time intervals)? In what units is MSD represented when using this software?

Dear Ada,

sorry for the late answer. The values that are computed by this processor are the squared mean displacement as a function of time. The unit used is thus squared pixel per frame (pixel^2 / frame). The conversion to to m^2 / s is classic, you just need to know the size of the pixels of your images and the interframe interval (multiply the values by the squared size of the pixel in meters and divide the interframe interval in seconds).

I hope this helps. I will check with Fabrice if we can implement such conversion directly in the software using the scale information of the image sequence, which would make things easier for you. But I guess you'll have to make the conversion by yourself right now.

Best.
