Even though both are same but in accounting termenology EXPENSES is usually used in refering to operating expenses (i.e  to carry on the day to day activates of the bssiness )for exp :monthely expenses like electricity,sales promation expenses etc.this expenses apper in the P&L account and dose not apper in  the BS .

 

EXPENDITURE: the termenology is used in case of capital expenditures not the operating expenses, expenditure in regarding to purchase  or acqure of capital assets, purchase of land, this expenditures does not effect the P&L immidetaly, they apper in the BS, ths expnditure are not directly take to p&L but are written off over the period in the form of deprecation
