Devika Education is an environment aimed at equipping students with the right tools to explore the realm of entrepreneurism and technology. At its core it is heavily based of awareness, brain storming and practical implementations. We promote the art of self-discovery and nurture the will for problem-solving.

 

Devika Education offers a 2 week program during school holidays that will allow students to learn how to create a website out of WordPress; which is the leading content management system and is currently powering 25% of the internet. The students will be able to begin with no knowledge of creating a website and walk out of the program empowering their understanding of how the 3 pillars (software, platform and infrastructure) of information technology work.

 

Attached you will see the Devika Education flyer which shows a visual concept of the business practice. This practical background will be the foundation of our teachings. We want to bring awareness, practical learning and an open-mind to technology.

 

Another important part is the discussion about social media and how it works in the technology world. A discussion topic example would be ‘how clouding computing works and its impact on our lives’:

1. How data is stored and transmitted
   
2. What effects that has with people posting personal activities to social media
   
3. How that is stored on the internet and why you cannot simply get it off once it is there
   

We don’t tell students what is right or wrong, we just give them to knowledge and tools to understand how technology works and how it may impact there life.

 

Timetable Details: 

This program consists of 6 classes during week 2 & 3 of 2016 

Date: January 13th to 15th and 20th to 22nd

Time: From either 9am to 10:30pm OR 12:30pm to 2pm

The 6:30am to 8am Early-bird lessons are for Adults only

Classes are over Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays

6 classes @ 1.5 hour @ $370 total with a 50+ page workbook

• Module 1 - Introduction to website creation and begin the concept of their website
  
• Module 2- Understanding domain names and website hosting
  
• Module 3 - Deploying a MYSQL database and standard WordPress site
  
• Module 4 to 9 - Begin updating the WordPress site with their own unique touch
  
• Module 10- Present their website
