Hi MORE,
Sorry I am unable to make it again this year to ICSEI. The program looks interesting this year for me.
I have a practical suggestion that is focused on technical support. I will leave it
to Saad to keep this note and bring it to the MORE meeting to see if there is a
possibility for these suggestion to become a reality.
MORE is about the promotion of empirical studies in educational effectiveness, especially in moving beyond single culture studies to international comparisons. There are a number of challenges with this objective and I think that we have a network of people whose research methods and research instruments are impressive.
One of the goals listed is to create a data bank. So let’s work on that.
We are all aware that no instrument is perfect, so I don’t want to get caught up in the details of “not posting unless….”
The point is that I trust the professional judgment of the MORE members. So that if I need an instrument on trust in school climate, I would first check out this list and see if a MORE member has measured this construct and how. If I see it and I have questions, I can then contact the group member directly or look through the comments.
We would end up with a list as follows:
|
MORE member name |
Instrument Constructs |
Publication/Report/Study where instrument was used |
Instrument uploaded with citation information |
Comments |
MORE has a Google group where we share resources.
We could use this group and just limit the access to the MORE membership.
We could also use the ICSEI network space
that we have as a MORE group. Although I am not certain that anyone actually
does use that site. I think that we need to use a site that is readily available
to/for use by the members.
I will commit to sharing 2 instruments I have used if I can get at least 5 others in the group to do the same. I will upload them to the MORE site (whatever we select) in 2011. This would mean that by the next meeting we will have 12 instruments minimum up and available for researchers to use across our network.
Cheers.
Sonia
Hi Sonia,
That’s a really good idea, let’s discuss at the MORE meeting and see if the group wants to run with this…
Best wishes,
