Dear CRS Students and Alumni,

This summer the department will be offering an elective course, CRS 614 Advanced Tools for Creative Problem Solving – Thinking Skills, as a one-week intensive course running from June 4 to June 8 (9:00 to 5:00 each day). The course will be taught by Laura Barbero-Switalski, adjunct graduate faculty member and highly successful creativity trainer, consultant and coach (I am tempted to say “Back by popular demand”).

A course description is found below my signature. Those of you interested in a deep immersion in the Creative Problem Solving-Thinking Skills model and exposure to a wider set of thinking tools will find this course of particular interest.

Given the value of the course, I have been approached by some alumni and current students who wish to take the course as a professional development workshop. To accommodate this wish we will be offering this experience both as a graduate course (3 credits) and as a workshop (0 credit hours). As a workshop, participants will have the full experience without the academic requirements (and without graduate credit). The cost of the workshop is $375 and is limited to 6 participants. To reserve a space in the workshop you must contact Deb Johnson (creativity@buffalostate.edu). Ms. Johnson will reserve seats for the first 6 respondents, as well as create a waiting list (based on order in which requests are received). To complete your registration for the workshop please submit a check in the full amount, payable to the “BSC Foundation: Creative Studies Account”, by May 21 (send to ICSC mailing address). Reserved spaces will open up should checks not be received by the May 21 deadline (end of the work day).

Questions regarding the content of the course and/or workshop should be directed to Laura Barbero-Switalski (la...@darwinassociates.net).

Should the course and workshop be cancelled due to low enrollment, full payment will be reimbursed to those who register for the workshop. Tuition reimbursement is managed through the Registrar's Office.

Those interested in taking the course for credit must register through Banner. While only those interested in engaging in this experience as a workshop should work through Deb Johnson as indicated above.

Best,

Gerard
