coldframe materials & compost update

Mornin, soilmates -- A friend of mine, Jan Brown, 319-471-3917, wanted me to pass along the message that she has a bunch of old windows to give away for free that can be repurposed for season extension coldframes (similar to the great design Joyce has at Kirkwood Elementary). Call her if you're interested. She lives near the res.
Also, while I'm thinkin of it, Jen Jordan & I were at an event yesterday, and she reminded me that, unlike the past 2 years when she didn't have compost available this time of year, she has a nice supply on hand now. I was just out there and dropped a ton in my pickup at Weber yesterday for Anne. $14 a ton, dirt cheap. But better grab it asap -- it'll likely go fast.
