Hello Everyone!

Save the Date and Spread the Word about our next School Garden Workshop:

DATE: April 2, 2016

TIME: 1:00 PM

PLACE: Kirkwood Iowa City Community College Campus, 1816 Lower Muscatine Road Iowa City, in the Commons.

The planning committee is comprised of:

Michelle Kenyon
Jenni Mettenmeyer

Jen Kardos

Liz Maas

Scott Koepke

Joyce Miller

Mike O'Leary

Kristin Bergman

We hope to come up with a proper title at our next meeting sometime the week of January 25, 2016. If you want to join the planning committee, you are welcome, please let me know!

Speakers at this workshop will cover some of the basics in starting and maintaining a garden, review district and community resources available for school gardens, share the latest research linking school gardens with higher test scores and other benefits to students; and include a high-participatory, hands-on component where presenters will showcase lessons in the garden for K-12 students.

Hope you can all join us!

Field to Family works to create a more local, more healthy and more sustainable food system. We have several events planned for 2016, including hosting a School Garden Workshop, our second annual Local Food Fair and mini-Farmer Fairs at schools and in the community. We can’t do the work we do without financial and volunteer support from the community. Learn more about what we do and how you can support our work.
