Hello Everyone!

I am working with Field to Family this year to help coordinate the annual local food festival, which includes Kid’s Day at the Iowa City Farmers Market. We are invited back this year to have a booth for school gardeners.  Kids Day is THIS Saturday, September 20 and this year our booth will sell garden produce from 9 AM to Noon. Sale proceeds go to the ICCSD Farm to School chapter.

Student gardeners are welcome to participate! Garden produce is welcome as well. Can you join us this year? We will provide general support but students will be staffing the booth. So far, two schools are signed up but we need more school gardeners & produce. We can arrange transport of produce if needed. Let me know if you have any questions! Free free to pass this along to others who may be interested in helping.

Best,

NWJH is full-on in!
We will have: Kale, pumpkinks, rough cabbage, herbs, maybe tomatoes, some arugula and maybe adorable crafts.
We will also have some student's food writing to display.
I think I will have some student volunteers to help work the stand again this year (one confirmed so far!)
Woots to those who grow food and farmers.
Also, who else is setting up with us.  I know Soilmates will be there rocking hard, but do we have any other local food groups or farmers setting up some educational opportunities for us?

Great news, Mike! Thanks! Kirkwood Elementary’s Garden Club will have potatoes, onions and possibly garlic for sale as well!

The Kid’s Day event is hosted by the City of Iowa City and they have several activities planned. In addition, the Iowa Children’s Museum & Iowa Valley RC&D will have food & farm-related educational activities!  You will also see informational booths from Alliance for Healthy Living and the Johnson County Food Policy Council.
