Project 1: (Chemical Engineering)  This project envisages a deep understanding of the process of cleansing/cleaning  with surfactant based formulations. It is expected that a mechanism of cleaning of oil/  hydrophilic particles from typical surfaces be understood, both from literature, and,  by performing guiding experiments be modelled simplistically. Using this knowledge  and understanding of forces involved propose some novel/challenging cleaning  solutions.  Project 2: (Organic Chemistry)  This project envisages developing a fundamental understanding of colouring  /dye transfer of chromophores onto relevant surfaces. In specific, gaining a  solid understanding of Structure Activity Relationships of certain chromophoric  compounds with respect to its fixation on hair/skin, is what is sought. The candidate  may have the opportunity to work at the Chemistry Department of IISc, Bangalore  on a related project. Project will involve syntheses of relevant model organic  compounds for study. Students with a flair for syntheses are definitely preferred, and,  can consider applying. Location: Vikhroli, Mumbai Stipend: 10000/month Accomodation/ Travel : Not provided.
