Hi - will ICS open the track and courts once the children move to online/PLEX in June?

Thank you for your question.  At this time we have not made a decision as to campus access in June.  It is something we will consider closer to June.

Can you please share your decision criteria. The Dec/Jan opening was billed as a "pilot", which I recall was said to be successful. But no detail was shared. And if successful, it's not clear to me what the program was not extended to evenings and weekends during the regular school year. 

If access to the track/field is through one gate and bathrooms closed (if folks are walking or exercising on the streets there would be no access to restrooms), it would seem that any risk of infection is extremely low.

Thank you for your email.  The access to the track and sports pavilion pilot during the Dec/Jan holiday worked very well.  Because it worked so well, we were able to open up the facilities during the March Spring break as well.  However, now as we move to close the campus and move to online learning we will also be closing access to the track and sports pavilion.

Thanks for the prompt reply. 

Approaching the move to online learning and not providing reasonable track access as one singular decision does not seem justified. It is one thing to close the school and stop in-person learning with 100s of students, teachers and staff sharing indoor space. But not providing access to the outdoor track and field for a limited and scheduled number of persons is quite another thing. The risk profiles are completely different. In fact, with the school closed the situation over the next 3 months would be similar to the Dec and March vacation periods.

Thanks for your response.  Our program follows school holidays and we will be sure to look at the opening the track and sports pavilion for the summer break, or to start early.  We will keep our community informed as we get closer to the time.

I appreciate ICS looking into opening access to the track and field early. And I hope early means months, rather than days, before the summer holiday. These are unique times and I believe the regular program of following school holidays needs to be re-considered to make it a bit easier on the ICS community (or to not speak for the community, for my family).
