Dear ICS,

I was wondering if parents decided to leave Ethiopia before April 29th, would there be an option for our children to do asynchronous learning, and not be counted as absent?

I hope my question make sense. I know that we as a family are struggling to make a decision whether to leave early or wait until the end of April.

Thank you for any guidance and options should we leave early,
Dawn

Thanks Dawn for your email.

If parents are leaving Addis and unable to meet during the synchronous learning on Addis time, it is not a problem for students to complete work asynchronously.  Students will not be marked as absent.

The online program through 25 June will be a mix of both synchronous and asynchronous learning. For the start of the program it will be mostly synchronous learning and will be based on Addis Ababa time.

As we get a better understanding of where our families will be located in May and June, we will re-evaluate synchronous learning time zones.

We do highly encourage parents and students to keep in touch with their teachers and keep them informed of travel dates and time zones.

Best,

Thank you for the response, and I hope that the school can come up with an actual Time Table since some teachers are planning to leave the country at the end of April, I think it will be hard to continue synchronous learning after the 29th of April. At least your answer helps our family make a better informed decision as to when we should pack out our house and leave the country.

With appreciation,
Dawn
