Hello there,
After our encounter with the Oculus Rift at the hack event, we have had significant interest in working with the newly released iteration. Do you reckon that we could find a way to acquire one? We could do the preorder ourselves though perhaps there would be wider interest than just within ICRS, so one to share might make more sense. What do you think Aran? Also are we still on for the meeting tomorrow (noon)?

mmmm… 1080p, with 1mm positional accuracy and 60hz (16ms) positional refresh
order a pair J would be good to have a dedicated station people could go to play with them in the
lab. But actually regarding the email below creating pretty work stations for specific toys would be good, like there is for the screen and the printers. Demarcating it properly.
I have a friend using the unity engine and the oculus for his students to experience what they make. Also cool to have in the lab for demonstrating to those
which hold the purse strings!!!!

Oops Ignore my previous email did not look in my inbox before sending lol.
Spool:
A little of both would be great, most of our printers use PLA atm, though the makerbot uses ABS.
Cosmetics:
I am sure we can come to some arrangement, though I can imagine that there could be some issues with interfering with final year projects/exam preparations as the lab is pretty open and lots of people that are not ICRS use the labs, especially in Easter. Though If it were just moving in desks etc maybe it is ok, painting etc may be too disruptive. We can have a meeting at 12:30 on Wednesday.
Laser:
Sounds reasonable.

Hi Josh. Sorry I've been out of touch since the hackathon - thanks so much for helping us that weekend. A few things:
SPOOL
We'll get you some 3D printer spool - PLA or ABS? Or both?
COSMETICS
Dr. Nick Jones and Prof. Peter Childs (our bosses) really want to see a cosmetic upgrade to happen to ICRS, for publicity reasons (which, pragmatically, will eventually lead to more funding and then more shiny stuff for everyone). We would like to make this happen as soon as possible - could we sit down together for 30 mins with you and anyone else who is interested to talk about what we could make happen? We're thinking fairly simple / easy to implement things: coats of paint, new stools, new tables, any furniture/storage, etc. - that won't alter the fabric of the building.
LASERS
If we can decide the nature of the cosmetic changes ASAP, we can spend the money on the laser cutter at the same time! We're ready to hit 'buy' on the laser cutter, but it would be convenient for us to do all the cosmetic purchasing at the same time.
We'd love to get the cosmetic changes implemented over easter - reckon this is doable? I wanted to talk to you in person about this at the hackathon, but only managed to mention it in passing to Will before I had to leave - sorry about that!
Best,
Aran
