Hello all,

Dr Christos Bouganis is wanting to build an autonomous quadcopter controlled by an onboard development board (such as an FPGA) and with no outboard processing on a laptop etc. and he would like us to help build the quad. It needs to be able to carry the development board, cameras, flight controller (maybe ardupilot), a LiPo battery for power and maybe some other sensors if needed.

We need a team of 2-3 people to work on this so if anyone is interested in helping out, please get in touch.

Thanks,
Adam

Don't know if you're aware, but a large amount of work went into something like this a couple of years ago - see http://icrobotics.co.uk/wiki/index.php/ICRS_IARC_Team. We collaborated with the guys from OpenPilot and built a dev board on their Revo platform which should still be around the lab, as should a couple CopterControls which didn't have enough grunt to run an IMS / autopilot.

There's also a PandaBoard or two which were used for development and onboard data processing, as well as various other bits of kit including a Kinect-like time-of-flight camera and such. A lot should still be kicking around the lab, including the frames we used to test and develop!
