Dear Colleagues (Warning: deadline: 18th October 2016)

Reference:  URGENT- Possibility to Apply for a Research Grant to Pursue a Research Project on Sustainable Developmet or Climate Change Adaptation  in Germany or UK

I am writing to you to draw your attention to a very URGENT but exciting research scholarship possibility, namely the European Union ERC Starting Grant. This is a grant, whose volume is up to
Euro 1,5 million over 5 years, for people who already have a PhD between 2 (minimum) to 5 years ago and wish to consolidate their training with us on matters
related to either

a) sustainable development or
b) climate change adaptation

The grant is meant to allow the researcher, from any country in the world,  to come to Germany or UK and be employed by our Universities, either Hamburg
University of Applied Sciences in Germany or Manchester Metropolitan University in the United Kingdom  for a period of
up to 5 years, with a salary commensurate with the post of Principal Investigator, under my supervision.

This grant possibility is very generous, but also highly competitive. Only the best research proposals are selected. If you feel you have an excellent
project idea, mature (this will not work if you have no idea at hand) and can write the proposal within a short time
(it must be uploaded by the 18th October 2016) please let me know. In order to allow you to
calculate the amount of details and work needed, I attach herewith the forms required (Part B1 and Part B2) and the guidelines for submissions. Please
read everything very  carefully. I will avail myself to offer guidance and will help to finalise the project and prepare the budget, but rely on the candidates to prepare
a research proposal which can withstand peer review. I am sorry this is in such a short notice, but I only received the information this morning.

Please contact me as soon as possible if you -or someone you know and who is duly qualified- who could take advantage of this opportunity. It is short notice, but
definitively worthy the effort.

Rgds,

Walter Leal
