hi , i am trying to install linux over windows this i had done it before also ,but,this time not  ben bale to get the same result and getting this sort of meassge MP-BIOS BUG 8254 timer not connected - use noapic option to bootMP-BIOS BUG 8254 timer not connected - use noapic option to boot
 
need suggestions so that i can install linux over windows

i think :
When you get to the menu press F6 and for some distribution f4 and add "noapic" to the end of the line...then press the enter button

If that doesn't work then try the same F6 thing and add both "noapic" and "noacpi" to the end.

i  searched for it on google also it says the story behind this prob is.
This is as much info as a newbie would need to overcome this problem. If you are a geek and you want to know more about this read on.
The story behind the message is as follows. The kernel tries to find the timer that syncs the IO devices and fails. The reason is that with the latest hardware (motherboards) have moved the timer to a different place. The problem is that the kernel is not yet up-to-date with this change (although the kernel developers are) and fails during the check.

mention the linux you are installing, you must have a free space for that which you can format in ext2 or ext3 format.
 
use vmware if you wanna just try out some linux.
you can use colinux too which has about 12 linux associated with it (in the package)

actually problem is with teh cd so no probs now
but thnks for ur concern .do need to how to run internet services in redhat5 i mean to say iam having an zte adsl modem and dint found any drivers for it help me out both for redhat 5  and pcqlinux
