Just discovered Icomoon. I am brand new to font generation and SVGs; I wouldn't know a ligature if one was standing in front of me. I took three icons I had in Illustrator form and saved them as SVGs, then imported them into icomoon, then assigned them to the letters A, B and C, then generated my font. The font works great in everything BUT Photoshop - which is the place I desperately need it to work! Somehow, the actual Latin characters A, B and C are showing up in Photoshop instead of my icons, even though they shouldn't even be in the font at all. (I also tried with the icons assigned to the default Unicode e600, e601 and e602 and got the same result.) Is the problem with the SVGs? My icomoon settings? Or something else? I have Illustrator CS and the even more ancient Photoshop 7.0 and am running the Icomoon Chrome extension on Windows 7.

I don't seem to be able to attach files, so here is a link to a zip containing my original AI files, the SVGs I converted them to, the resulting TTF, and some relevant screenshots.

(and by "the same result" I mean the icons failed to show up in Photoshop, not that I got the Latin characters; when I used Unicode e600, etc., I got the requisite empty squares, though the icons showed up just fine in Word and Illustrator)

Since the font is working in other applications, the problem in Photoshop can't be caused by the SVGs or your font settings. Did you try closing Photoshop and opening it again?

Try the desktop font available in Linearicons' free pack to see if you are having the same issue: https://linearicons.com/free  You can download the free pack and find a desktop font (TTF). Before installing it, close Photoshop.

Unfortunately I don't have access to Photoshop 7 and therefore cannot reproduce this issue.

I rebooted not only Photoshop but my machine several times. Even did a system restore and re-installed fresh with no programs running.

Here's the weird thing. I installed Linearicons. It works fine in those other programs. In Photoshop, I'm getting the same font substitution I got with my own custom font. Both Linearicons and my font, "sacredfools," are showing the same generic rounded font when I try to use them in Photoshop. If you look at the "5 Photoshop example.jpg" file from the zip I previously uploaded, you'll see the font I'm actually getting. These seem to be identical to a font called "Gulim" which I cannot uninstall because it is a "system font." Gulim is meant to be a Korean font, but I only see Arabic characters when I open the ttf - and they're identical to the font I'm seeing when I use Linearicons or my own font.

Also, Photoshop is not listing those my Icomoon fonts in the main alphabetical order, but has grouped them in one of several separate alphabetical listings at the end of the font list, along with Arial Unicode MS, Gulim and several other fonts.

Well, since I don't have access to Photoshop 7, I can't reproduce this issue. Fonts generated using IcoMoon follow the Open Type spec. Photoshop 7 is quite old and it is likely that it might have a bug. Or it might be using an out dated font parser. I can only suggest using a newer version of Photoshop. I have tested Photoshop CS 5 and newer; they all work fine with IcoMoon fonts.
