We had a meeting last Tuesday alhamdulelah to review the suggestions and pick the items that need to be worked on. Thanks to all of you who provided feedback and added very good suggestions to the spreadsheet!

There is a good opportunity with this festival to represent Muslims and educate people about Islam. Please find if you can help with any of the following 10 items, and let me know by 9/5 if you would like to participate:

1-Produce booklets answering Top 10 Questions on Islam

2-Assist/Allow women visitors to try out Hijabs

3-Give away reusable bags with Peace, Salam written in various languages

4-Baklava, Dates, and sweets

5-Booth Setup

6-Stage Performance

7-Play Quran in the background

8-Looping Videos on Islamic History or Islamic ART

9-Prepare the Islamic Trivia Questions for Stage performance

10-Islamic Calligrapher

Last Thursday we had our first planning meeting for the Irvine Global Village Festival which will be held in Irvine on 9/29. 

Thank you to everyone who attended yesterday for your ideas, support, and very productive participation. Jazakum Allah khairan all and may Allah guide all of us to be among the best representatives of his deen al-Islam. Ameen. 

If you missed the first meeting we still want you to join us in the upcoming meetings insha'Allah. In this first meeting, we have determined that our main goals from this Festival participation is to show how diverse the Muslim community is, and counter Islamophobia (Fear from Islam). We will have a booth and a chance to perform on the stage 2 or 3 times during the day for 5 to 15 minutes each performance, so we want to make the best out of these opportunities insha'Allah. 

Here is a link with the ideas summary. Please feel free to add your comment in a column with your name to the right most side, or add a new line with your new idea.  

The Irvine Global Village project (Project IGV) is going to last only for the next 5 weeks. Please attend our next meeting on Tuesday 8/28 if you can participate and help with this effort. Our goal for next meeting is to finalize the list of items to be done, based on the estimated effort, resources and cost, etc..

May Allah give us sincerity and purify our intentions.

A small booklet / pamphlet on the top 10 questions. 

Can it be possible to include ," A DID YOU KNOW"... Section?

Example; Did you know that ,Islam means submission to God? "one who submits his life to God is a Muslim" go on further and give an example by--- " The Prophet Abraham submitted his life to God for he was considered a Muslim" , or maybe that's too much? Any thoughts anyone,Something to bring up at the next meeting inshAllah.
