Assalamu alaikum,
Alhamdulillah wa' Shukru Lillah for another great year at ICOI's Irvine Global Village booth and performance.
I just wanted to take a moment to sincerely thank all the AMAZING volunteers that with Allah's help made this a memorable event.
I'd like to recognize each and every one of them (wala nuzakki ala Allahu ahadan) but the brothers and sisters showed how great our community is mashaAllah.
From sr. Farhana who was the first to show up in the morning and help set up the booth beautifully, to sr. Marwa who was so dedicated working non-stop and beyond her shift to keep the coverage, to sr. Tiffany who did a great job on stage representing Islam, to sr. Aisha who worked hard behind the scenes and did an amazing job gathering the striking photos of our presentation; to sr. Andrea who was so responsive and helped with printing, supplies, etc.; and all the sisters Zaynub, Yasmine(2), Malak, Ayda who volunteered and manned the booth with such professionalism.
As for the brothers, we got equally great support... with br. Hiro who worked tirelessly for the last several weeks basically co-managing the entire effort plus doing a great job on stage as MC; and br. Tamer who also co-managed and got us all the literature/qurans/pamphlets/websites, and spent all day at the booth and setup the day before; and br. AbdulJabbar who offered his truck and drove us back and forth; and br. Imran who also co-managed and worked quietly behind the scenes but basically did all the difficult work obtaining supplies, driving our sheikhs, and organizing/planning all along; and br. Ahmad who trusted us with his valuable equipment that made our presentation look pretty 'awesome'; and br. Shahid who manned the booth and was so proactive that he wrote on every handout until the Open Mosque Day fliers arrived; and br. Ahmed Z. who's great work from last year was the model/template that made it easier on us; and br. Umer who supported us and even bought lunch; and of course our stars shk. Mohamed and shk. Jamaal who always make us proud to be part of ICOI.
I know it's dangerous to try and mention everyone since I may forget someone (i truly apologize if I did) but I really believe knowing each other by name and working together builds a stronger community. The teamwork, dedication and selfless work makes me happy to be part of the ICOI family and my only duaa is for Allah subhanahu wa taala to accept all our deeds for His sake alone.
While it's still fresh in your minds, please send me any lessons learned and areas for improvement so I can document them for next year inshaAllah.
May Allah reward you all and looking forward to the next big event!
Wassalam,
Ahmed.
