After a very successful local talent show where we had overhelming
participation, we are now getting ready to host some outstanding
programs by marquee artists. As we had announced earlier, April will
bring in the best of the vocalists in both styles of music - Priya
sisters and Pt. Sanjeev Abhayankar.

This weekend we continue the largely successful series of informal
concerts we have been doing since last year. At the West Regional
Library in Cary we will have a very talented artist Sri Amit Vinayak
Parchure (Hindustani vocalist) accompanied by our own Nihar Paranjpe
on the Tabla.

About Parchre ..
Amit Parchure has been learning music since last 15 years. He started
taking lessons from Mr. Shekhar Kumbhojkar (disciple of late Pt.
Jitendra Abhishekiji) for 4 years. Then at later stage he was under
the tutelage of late Pt. Gangadharbua Pimpalkhareji for 5 years. He
received the advance training in Hindustani Classical Vocal under the
able guidance of Pt Vijay Koparkar (disciple of late Pt. Vasantrao
Deshpandeji & late Pt. Jitendra Abhishekiji).

Music Scholarship:
Amit is a recipient of Central Government Scholarship for Hindustani
Classical Vocal in 1994.

Awards/Competitions/Performances:

Parchure has won many laurels in music competitions such as Sakal
Natya Sangeet Spardha, Kalyani Karandak, Firodiya Karandak, Dadar
Matunga Cultural center, Ganvardhan to name a few.

We also have a community event announcement:
This weekend is the big India Fest day at the Dorton Arena by Hum
Sub. There are performances all day with some special featured
programs including a unique classical dance program by Supriya's Payal
Dance Academy at 4 pm Saturday March 26 as detailed below:

Rhythm: Heartbeat of Dance.
A presentation of Supriya’s Payal Dance Academy

A special production from Karnataka Kalashree Supriya Desai and her
company Payal Dance Academy for Nuv Yug’s India Festival
Evening of Saturday March 26, 2011

A short journey into the world of Indian dance as it has evolved over
time from one generation to another, from one genre to another with a
common theme of rhythmic basics. Starting with the tribal dance,
progressing to the folk and classical and ending with contemporary,
including Bollywood. This displays the brilliant choreography of
Supriya Desai and demonstrates her versatility.

People who are familiar with Supriya’s programs are accustomed to
expecting two things from her – outstanding quality and uniqueness of
theme and presentations. This program follows the same pattern.
